Job Description:

Marketing Intern

Strive is seeking a Marketing Intern to join the Strive family and assist the Marketing Manager with all daily marketing responsibilities within our organization. We are searching for a driven, ambitious, forward-thinking leader, who is passionate about the community and has a desire to grow experience and capabilities within the field. This candidate should exemplify strong problem-solving skills, an out-of-the-box thought process, superior organizational skills and a commitment to exercising our organization's core values.

Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside other "Strivers" to create and help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience and supports marketing goals.

  • Assisting with key aspects of our summer programs, including: event planning, recruiting, admissions, and logistics for our annual Summer Leadership Academy, Sports Challenge.

  • Collecting quantitative and qualitative data from ongoing and/or completed marketing campaigns

  • Helping to create and distribute marketing graphics and materials

  • Managing and updating the organization’s database and customer relationship management systems (CRM)

  • Assisting with implementation of the organization’s social media strategy

  • Manage social media accounts, including live content for stories, during Sports Challenge.

  • Assist the Marketing Manager in capturing the essence of Sports Challenge through both photo and video channels.

  • Supporting the organization in daily marketing administrative duties and other assigned tasks

Qualifications:

We seek to hire individuals who are passionate about leadership and the power of athletics as a source of change and good in a community.

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program

    • Students working toward a degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Public Relations, Social Work, as well as liberal arts degrees are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity for a creative mind with a background in art, photography, and videography who is looking to apply their skills to a meaningful cause. Preference will be given to rising juniors and seniors in college and recent graduates.  
  • Ability to multi-task, take direction and take initiative within projects
  • Passion for the marketing industry and a solid understanding of different marketing technique

  • A dual-minded approach: highly creative and an excellent written communication skills as well as a process-driven, ability to think in scale, and rely on data to make marketing suggestions and decisions.

  • Must have working knowledge in MS Office and Google Platform (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)

  • Ability to work long days and weekends during Sports Challenge (2 weeks in June-July 2019)

  • Desire to grow leadership skills, learn and become part of a cohesive team

Bonus experience and skills include:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign)

  • Inbound marketing and SEO exposure

  • Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Adwords a BIG plus

  • Basic photography skills or knowledge of video editing tools

  • Blogging or Podcast experience

Work Calendar:

Dates of Contract (flexible): Monday, May 20, 2019 - Friday, August 2, 2019

Sports Challenge Staff Training: Monday, June 24th, 2019 - Wednesday, June 26th, 2019   

Sports Challenge Program Dates: Thursday, June 27th, 2019 - Friday, July 5th, 2019

During Sports Challenge Staff Training & Program, you will be expected to stay on campus at Haverford College and work weekends.

Aside from these dates, you will be expected to work Monday thru Friday at Strive’s office at 1007 N Orange St., Wilmington, DE.

An offer to interview will be extended to qualified candidates.   

Interns will earn a modest stipend based on a 40-hour work week.   

Interns are required to use their personal laptop and other tools as applicable for work with Strive. You will also be required to secure your own lodging during the time that we work at our headquarters in Wilmington, DE. Your housing and meals will be covered when we are on-site for Sports Challenge (Monday, June 24 - Friday, July 5 at Haverford College).

Interns will be required to obtain the following: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Fingerprint Based Federal Criminal History Check.
