It is important to identify your own leadership style to be more aware of how you work with people. Here is Wise Toast’s list of the 12 different types of leadership styles:

  1. Autocratic Leadership – centered on the person in charge
  2. Democratic Leadership – everyone participates in making decisions
  3. Strategic Leadership – creates habits for a high performance organization
  4. Transformational Leadership – specifically geared towards initiating change
  5. Team Leadership – focused on the future of the organization
  6. Cross-Cultural Leadership – recognizes contemporary globalized organizations
  7. Facilitative Leadership – dependent on measurements and outcomes
  8. Laissez-faire Leadership – gives authority to team members
  9. Transactional Leadership – maintains or continues the status quo
  10. Coaching Leadership – involves teaching and supervising followers
  11. Charismatic Leadership – transforms followers’ values and beliefs
  12. Visionary Leadeship – recognizes that the steps and processes of leadership are obtained with and through people
